    Rajesh Gupta serves as Interim Dean of the School of Computing, Information, and Data Sciences at UC San Diego. He is Founding Director of the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute and a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Professor Gupta's research is in cyber-physical systems with a focus on sensor data organization and its use in optimization and analytics. His past contributions include SystemC modeling and SPARK parallelizing high-level synthesis, both of which have been incorporated into industrial practice. He is a co-PI on DARPA/SRC Center on Evolvable Computing (ACE) on scalable and accelerated distributed computing. He served as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, IEEE Design and Test and founding EIC of IEEE Embedded Systems Letters.

    Gupta holds Qualcomm Endowed Chair in Embedded Microsystems at UC San Diego and INRIA International Chair at the French international research institute in Rennes, Bretagne Atlantique and a Distinguished Visiting Professor position at IIT Kanpur. He received Excellence in Stewardship Award by UC San Diego Foundation, Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kanpur, IEEE TC-CPS Distinguished Leadership Award and W. Wallace McDowell Award by IEEE Computer Society. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the ACM and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

    Assistant Dean Steven Ford is responsible for the administrative oversight for HDSI including long-range planning, resource administration, institutional and policy development and analysis, and administrative leadership. Ford serves as lead financial and administrative officer and strategic consultant to HDSI leadership on resources and advises on all aspects of UC San Diego policies and procedures.

    Cynthia Dillon is the Communications Director for the San Diego Supercomputer Center and the Halicioğlu Data Science Institute, which together make up the School of Computing, Information, and Data Sciences. She joined the UC San Diego University Communications team in 2015 and has covered the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Physical Sciences, and the San Diego Supercomputer Center, where she works with a dynamic team of communications professionals and serves on the executive leadership team. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in anthropology, with an emphasis on public archaeology and ethics. She has conducted archaeological and ethnographic research working with local Native American communities, and she has taught archaeology and cultural anthropology for the San Diego Community College District. Before joining the university, she worked as a newspaper and television news writer and editor, and then moved into nonprofit leadership, serving as a library and museum director.

    Logan Wiedenhoffer serves as Executive Assistant to the Director within the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute and point of contact for the HDSI Business Office. Having joined UC San Diego in 2017, Logan has worked in a wide variety of departments across campus prior to becoming part of HDSI. As a member of the UC San Diego class of 2014, Logan holds a B.A. in Sociocultural Anthropology.
