Rajesh Gupta

Dean, Distinguished Professor, HDSI Founding Director

Rajesh Gupta serves as Dean of the School of Computing, Information, and Data Sciences at UC San Diego. He is Founding Director of the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute and a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Dr. Gupta's research is in cyber-physical systems with a focus on sensor data organization and its use in optimization and analytics. His past contributions include SystemC modeling and SPARK parallelizing high-level synthesis, both of which have been incorporated into industrial practice. He is a co-PI on DARPA/SRC Center on Evolvable Computing (ACE) on scalable and accelerated distributed computing. He served as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, IEEE Design and Test and founding EIC of IEEE Embedded Systems Letters.

Gupta holds Qualcomm Endowed Chair in Embedded Microsystems at UC San Diego and INRIA International Chair at the French international research institute in Rennes, Bretagne Atlantique and a Distinguished Visiting Professor position at IIT Kanpur. He received Excellence in Stewardship Award by UC San Diego Foundation, Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kanpur, IEEE TC-CPS Distinguished Leadership Award and W. Wallace McDowell Award by IEEE Computer Society. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the ACM and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
