Graduate Degree Programs

Ph.D. Program

The doctoral program prepares leaders in Data Science through research-focused education. Students gain the knowledge, skills, and perspective to conduct impactful, data-driven research that advances the field. The curriculum covers foundations—computational methods, machine learning, mathematical models, and statistical analysis—as well as applied areas of data science.

Master of Science in Data Science

The Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) program prepares students to excel in data-driven problem solving and contribute to the future of the field. The rigorous curriculum includes a strong foundation in core areas of data science and culminates in a choice between a research thesis or comprehensive examination.

Master of Data Science Online

The online Master of Data Science (MDS) program combines academic rigor with flexibility for working professionals with a focus on real-world application of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Delivered fully-online and mostly-asynchronous, students build expertise through hands-on projects throughout the curriculum which culminates in a capstone project.

Master of Advanced Studies in Data Science and Engineering

The weekend Master of Advanced Studies in Data Science and Engineering (MAS-DSE) is a rigorous, part-time, in-person master’s program blending programming, database systems, statistics, machine learning, scalable analysis, and visualization, culminating in a team-based capstone. Classes meet alternating weekends, offering flexibility for busy schedules.

Undergraduate Degree Programs

Bachelor of Science in Data Science

The B.S. in Data Science prepares students to analyze complex data and derive meaningful insights across disciplines. The curriculum blends mathematics, statistics, computing, and domain-specific courses, culminating in a two-quarter senior capstone with real-world projects. Ethical data use and societal impact are also emphasized.

Minor in Data Science

The undergraduate Minor in Data Science provides students from a major other than Data Science or Computer Science with a solid foundation in data literacy, data analysis, statistical modeling, and computational methods.

Certificate Programs

Advanced Certificate in Foundational Data Science

Designed to create professionals who can turn raw information into actionable insights with critical skills in programming, statistics, and machine learning — all delivered through a fully online, flexible format.
